Professor ACHIDI is a practicing medical laboratory scientist, biomedical research scientist and Vice Dean in the Faculty of Science of the University of Buea in Cameroon. His major areas of research include maternal-fetal interactions in malaria, understanding malarial immunity, mechanisms involved in malaria pathogenesis and anti-malarial drug resistance patterns, clinical trials and co-infections studies of malaria/HIV/TB and helminths. He also participated in the design and coordination of the conduct of several ongoing collaborative studies aimed at providing baseline data for future malaria vaccine and treatment intervention trials. He was/where theProject Coordinator of a European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) for the creation of regional nodes of excellence - CANTAM (Central Africa Network for Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Malaria).He’s currently co-PI of an EDCTP CANTAM funded project aimed at investigating hepatotoxicity effect of drug combination therapy for patients with HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Professor ACHIDI is member of the African Regional Network for Research in Neglected Tropical Diseases (ARNTD) where is develop policy on controlling NTDs and building capacity in Africa. He has a strong and successful track record of mentoringdoctoral students, medical trainees and junior faculty and frequently provides peer review services tomedical journals in the area of infectious diseases and is the founding member of the University of Buea Institutional Review Board.
